I am Latky Csongor, the manager of the Steps NeuroRehabilitation center. When we dreamed up the center in 2019, we wanted to create a medical institution that would pioneer and fill a gap by offering high-level technology-supported intensive rehabilitation that was not available in Hungary. With all this, hundreds of patients are guaranteed high-level care at home.
The originator of the center was a fellow pilot who, after his unfortunate accident and spinal injury, could only find similar care abroad. It was already clear to him, which many people here did not yet see, that he would need a different approach, equipment and intensity in order to replace the wheelchair with the cockpit of the airplane.
For planning, we visited leading and successful neurorehabilitation clinics in Europe.
It was an undisclosed goal that we wanted to initiate a change of attitude within the rehabilitation profession in Hungary with intensive (up to 6-8 hours a day of robotic, manual and other therapy for months) and patient-centered outpatient care.
For all this, in addition to purchasing the most modern robotic devices, we relied on foreign experience, but above all on the selection and training of therapists working with our patients.
In addition to high professional competence, a sense of professionalism is also expected, which is unavoidable if we want to do a helping job well.
When putting together the Steps Team, I strove to ensure that the team members were not only excellent professionals in their professions, but also dedicated, empathetic and good people.
My personal motivation is helping people, which I have the opportunity to do every day during my work. Small successes and hoped-for miraculous recoveries give me joy and at the same time strength to overcome difficulties.
