    STEPS Therapies & Treatments

    About Treatment at STEPS
Treatment depends largely on the extent or severity of the injury. Overall, the goal of the rehabilitation is to make everyday life easier, to develop independence in employment, sports, and all areas of life.

In the event of a nervous system related health condition, we may be faced with having to relearn basic movements that determine our independence. Both patients and their relatives want to recover as quickly as possible. STEPS Budapest uses the most advanced robotic rehabilitation devices, patients with brain and spinal cord injuries and multiple sclerosis come to our clinic from all over Europe. Our goal is to speed up recovery time and improve outcomes of movement rehabilitation. We supplement conventional therapy with robotic and technology-assisted devices. Since every patient reacts and improves differently, our treatments are customized and flexible.

In our center, we combine conventional physiotherapy with robot- assisted therapies for faster and lasting development. Our clinic has many robotic devices that are optimized for the upper limb and gait training. After the examination, a doctor and a physiotherapist creates together a therapy plan- considering the personal goals of the patients- which contains the appropriate proportion of various robot- assisted training and conventional therapy for the development of the upper and lower limbs. In accordance with the development, the initial therapy package can be modified, new tools can be added while some may not be used further.

    About Spinal Cord Injuries
Spinal cord injuries (SCI) cause temporary or permanent changes in function that occur when the spinal cord is damaged. Symptoms include loss of muscle function, sensation, or autonomic function in the area below the level of the injury. Individuals with spinal cord injuries are affected in all areas of their lives- mentally, emotionally and socially.

    About Stroke
Stroke is a 'brain disaster'. It can happen to anyone at any time. A stroke occurs when blood flow to an area of the brain is interrupted, either due to a blockage or bleeding. When this happens, the brain cells are deprived of oxygen, consequently they die, and the functions deteriorate or cease (ability to initiate movement, speech center, control of specific muscles or muscle groups, skin sensation in specific areas, memory functions, etc.) From the point of view of recovery, it is very important that the treatment after the stroke event start as soon as possible.

    About Multiple Sclerosis
We determine the most effective treatment individually. MS treatment is intensive, effective, and aims to restore all functions and slow down the loss of certain functions, thus slowing down the developing disability even in the case of changes in upper or lower limb function or balance problems. With our tools, we can adequately help in the development, preservation or, in some cases, recovery of the complex walking function.
We know that in the case of MS, fatigue is a significant factor, and technology-assisted therapy is especially effective in achieving the appropriate load. In all cases, we proceed with the therapy taking the patient's feedback into account, ensuring safe development.

    About Parkinson's
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects predominately dopamine-producing (“dopaminergic”) neurons in a specific area of the brain called substantia nigra. People with PD may experience: Tremor, mainly at rest and described as pill rolling tremor in hands.
