Patient Testimonials

Hi! There have been some surprisingly positive developments regarding my independent walking. It started with my physiotherapist noticing that my back has become much straighter when I stand on my own. Until February, my record was walking one full length of the sports hall, about 30–40 meters, without losing my balance—after which I had to sit down and rest.
Now my record is 12 minutes of walking without stopping, with the physiotherapist not even touching me, and my balance is much more stable. Today I walked for half an hour with only one or two moments of losing balance, and compared to before, my hips get tired much less.
This is a huge improvement in performance. I don’t know whether the “toe-off” training or the Andago contributed more—probably both—but I never would have thought the improvement would come so suddenly, even though I’m an impatient kid.
It’s worth mentioning that I was about 12 years old when my record was 300 meters, but my walking was much more unstable. Then I stopped practicing independent walking until this February, because back then I had a few serious falls and lost my motivation and faith that this could lead anywhere. Meanwhile, my physiotherapist went on maternity leave, and with my new physiotherapist we decided to focus on developing my endurance.
I started practicing again in February with STEPS, and of course at first it didn’t go as well as before—I had grown a lot, etc.—and that’s why until two weeks ago my record was only 30–40 meters. Now there’s been this sudden leap forward: overall I’m doing better than ever.
So I already want to say a huge thank you to you, because without STEPS, independent walking would probably have been forgotten forever. And maybe the best part of all is that I’ve regained my faith that this can become something real.
So now I’m really, really curious where all this will lead in the long run. One thing is certain: my motivation to improve is greater than ever, so I’ll do my best to maintain this state until the next appointment in a week. See you at the end of May, maybe.
P.S. I thought I’d write down what’s happening now, because I still can’t quite believe it, and I guess it’s good for you to hear the results of your therapy and work as well. See you at the end of May, maybe!

Hanna was born in 2007 as the middle child of triplets. Due to a lack of oxygen, her motor center was damaged. After an Ulzibat surgery, we continued her rehabilitation at the STEPS Robotics Center. Thanks to the robots and the kind, smiling physiotherapists with great professional expertise, Hanna’s muscles have strengthened significantly and her movement has improved a lot.

Miki was born prematurely. At two days old he developed pneumothorax and also suffered oxygen deprivation. As a result, his central nervous system was damaged, which affects his motor development. His diagnosis is spastic tetraparesis. In addition, his neck and back are hypotonic.
The goal of the therapies is to develop a proper walking pattern, reduce spasticity, and strengthen the neck and back.
At STEPS we found solutions for all of this. Thanks to robotic and traditional therapies, Miki has strengthened and developed tremendously.

After my accident, I searched for a long time for a suitable place for rehabilitation. Long after my injury, I heard about robotic development. In Budapest, I found these tools at STEPS. After thorough examinations, the development process began, continuously bringing new results, and day by day I feel better. I have improved a lot.
The end of the journey is still far away, but I am grateful that I found this opportunity.

Hi! My name is Miklós Kanya, I am 18 years old. In 2020 I had a car accident. I was paralyzed from the waist down. My spine was injured in the lumbar region; the 2nd, 3rd and 4th vertebrae were affected. I needed hospital treatment for a month due to other injuries as well. After that, my rehabilitation began.
I spent four months there, then I had to go home because of the virus situation. At home, I continued physiotherapy without interruption, with huge successes—first steps, etc.
After the accident, my mother noticed an advertisement on the internet called STEPS. She kept telling me it looked good and that we should try it. Of course, people are afraid of everything new—I was worried because it was a new environment, new challenges, and so on.
As it turned out, it was one of the best decisions of my life, which my mother and I made together. I am most grateful to them and my family, who were always there for me and made it possible for me to reach such great places and opportunities.
We discovered a community that is anything but ordinary. I never gave up, because you have to keep going and keep working. I struggled with the difficulties, but in the end they always went down before me. Even on the first day, a ray of hope appeared, which I immediately grabbed onto—and it turned out I was right to do so.
I made friends, companions, and met new people, to whom I owe my small life. Unfortunately, the first chapter has ended. Even now tears come to my eyes because I can’t be there with them every day.
We are waiting for the continuation—we will face it the same way as the first one. Only we can come out as winners!
Thank you, STEPS!

After 28 years with multiple sclerosis, countless treatments and therapies, I still feel that I cannot afford to give up. At STEPS I receive enormous help and support for this. Everyone is by my side, everyone helps. With their excellent therapies and specialists, they know exactly how to teach me to walk again.
The only thing I regret is that I didn’t find them sooner!

I deliberately searched for an opportunity where the functional condition of my left hand could be further developed. In the state system, therapy periods were very short because many patients had to share the same equipment, and due to COVID I also dropped out of therapy quite a bit.
In my case, both my hand and my walking were affected, since I had to learn to walk again. Lokomat and Andago helped my stability, walking ability, and physical endurance.
Robotic therapeutic devices strongly support and develop cognitive abilities as well, since attention and concentration are very important during rehabilitation, and divided-attention tasks are especially beneficial.

My name is Róbert Jász. On 24 February 2020, I was in a car accident as a passenger, as a result of which my 4th cervical vertebra was fractured, and tetraplegia was diagnosed. After long rehabilitation, I ended up in a wheelchair. At first, I needed a lot of help in my daily life.
In August 2021, I got in touch with STEPS, and at the end of October I started robotic therapy. With some interruptions, the intensive therapy lasted about half a year. As a result, I became visibly stronger and my general condition improved. Currently, with minimal assistance, I am able to take care of myself.
Thanks to the help and support of my wife, children, and family, the many exercises done at home, and robotic therapy, today I am working again at my workplace—although in a different position.

Odett was born with a cerebral hemorrhage, which doctors diagnosed already during pregnancy. The result was hemiplegia. Intellectually she is completely intact—an attentive, talkative little girl. Her movement needs significant development, which can be achieved thanks to STEPS, because robotic therapy effectively develops the muscles needed for correct posture and proper movement.

I searched all over the world for different rehabilitation opportunities. My sons even took me to Russia, and then I found the STEPS rehabilitation center. At first, my development started from an extremely difficult condition.
The patience and emotional support of the physiotherapists make it possible for me every day to get the most out of myself. The equipment and machines provide an environment that was previously unimaginable for me in order to achieve my goals.
